What Makes a Strong Password

With the advancing technology, everyone (including your mom and dad) has a social media account. Whether that may be the old-school Facebook or the trendy Instagram, there must be at least a quarter of the population using these social media applications. However, with creating and sharing content comes making accounts, requiring the creation of passwords to ensure that no one else will be able to access your account.

To avoid getting hacked, one must be sure to make a strong password to secure your account. We noticed this and realized how essential it is for the youth or anyone on a social media platform to know what makes a strong password. Here are THREE easy tips we’ve compiled to answer that question!

  1. Always use a unique password for different social media sites. It’s a common tip, but we’re not kidding when we give you this tip, since hackers can easily reuse the same username and password combinations on different sites.

  2. Avoid using birthdays, names, or personal information on your passwords. These are easily found online and they’ll likely be the first guesses that a hacker would attempt in the situation that they would want to hack you.

  3. Aim to have 12 characters long with letters, numbers and special characters. Some others use 14-20 characters for more security in their passwords.
