Authenticity is a questionable thing in the modern age, especially with all the information we’re surrounded with. We never know when something’s truly authentic, unless it’s from a ‘reliable source’ or a site/influencer we truly trust in. Even then, we don’t know if it’s completely true and there’ll always be other sources where we’re able to double-check.
It’s become a debacle that everyone’s been silently trying to solve behind-the-scenes. Most online businesses try to answer the question of how they can be authentic and attract a loyal customer base. But you really can’t win over everyone’s hearts. An article by Falcon.io mentioned that, “57% of online users believe that the media are contaminated with untrustworthy information. 76% worry about false information and fake news being used as a weapon against them.”
Why does authenticity matter so much? It’s because it’s what allows humans to trust one another. One needs to be trustworthy to gain the trust of others and build relationships with one another. But there’s so much misconception regarding fake news and unreliable resources that it kind of blinds everyone into thinking that authenticity doesn’t exist anymore.
