Independence Day Roadshow 2024

To celebrate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, GenDigital was inspired to empower even more local communities with technology-related knowledge. In a span of a week (August 17-24), GenDigital partnered with Ruang Aksara Pengetahuan and Wahana Visi Indonesia to teach over 120 children from three different areas of Jakarta. The three locations included Rumah Baca Cahaya Ilmu (North Jakarta), Taman Baca Carita (West Jakarta), and RPTRA Jaka Teratai (East Jakarta). With the theme of “Artificial Intelligence untuk Anak Indonesia,” GenDigital covered a range of topics related to programming and AI, including automation, generative AI, functions of programming, and more. 

During the teaching sessions, the children also did activities that will help them further understand the topics. For the first stop on the 17th of August, which is Rumah Baca Cahaya Ilmu located in North Jakarta, the children were asked to draw a robot that can assist them with their daily activities. The children then enthusiastically presented their robot drawings and elaborate on the function of the robot. 

Our team then resumed the roadshow on the 24th of August by visiting two stops. The first one was held at Taman Baca Carita in West Jakarta. The children there drew their own robots as well. Our second stop was RPTRA Jaka Teratai in East Jakarta. For their activity, they got to familiarize themselves with how to program using the MBlock software. 

GenDigital is immensely grateful for the opportunity to give back to even more local communities from three different areas of Jakarta during this special celebration. The team looks forward to conducting even more initiatives that will equip Indonesia’s youth with digital literacy knowledge, which will help push the nation forward.
