Gen Digital Hour Of Code

Hourly events in collaboration with various NGO partners, engaging children through hands-on activities such as Lightbot to expose them to technologies, while expanding GenDigital's reach in Indonesia.

GenD goes to Salatiga:

On the 3rd of July, 2022, GenDigital went to Salatiga. After three long years of the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was our first in-person Hour Of Code (HOC)! Our team went to an orphanage in Salatiga, called Panti Asuhan Salib Putih. Here, we gave them an introduction to Scratch, which is a high-level block-based visual programming language and website with a target demographic of children aged 8 to 16 as an educational tool for programming. The website's users, known as Scratchers, can create projects using a block-like interface.

The people we taught ranged from primary school to university, but regardless of their age, they were all very enthusiastic in learning about the program. Not to mention, they actively engaged in interactive learning, and weren't afraid to ask questions. Despite it being their first time learning Scratch, they all did marvelously. In addition to this, we also combined various important lectures, as well as other group activities with the orphans present.
